Our adventure further west now takes us to Washington. We are excited to see another great national park. Olympic National Park is known for its diverse ecosystems including glacier capped mountains, old growth rain forests, and over 70 miles of coastline. It certainly didn’t disappoint us!

Mt Rainier National Park is next on journey as we travel south from Olympic. The mountain is 14,410 ft tall. We made the drive up as far as our pickup could go at around 6,400 ft. We were able to see many glaciers up the mountain. There are numerous hiking trails and waterfalls. Generally the best time to see Mt Rainier is July through October. We were there in September. Simply a beautiful place with a year round snow capped mountain peak! We highly recommend!

We have always heard great things about the rocky Oregon coastline so here we come. It stretches some 362 miles from the California state border to the Columbia River in the north. One of the most famous and most pictured rock formations is Haystack Rock at Cannon beach. It is truly stunning. There are several lighthouses on the shoreline that we were able to enjoy. We highly recommend the Heceta Head Lighthouse at Heceta Beach Oregon. It is considered the premier lighthouse in Oregon. There are several campgrounds along the coastal highway. Most are dry camping. We enjoyed staying at Tillicum Beach campground. It overlooked the Pacific Ocean from a bluff with a stairwell down to the beach.

After several weeks of being on the road it was time to head back to our home in Alabama. We really enjoyed this trip! There is so much to see in our beautiful country with so many diverse landscapes. We encourage everyone in the RV community to make plans to RV travel every chance you get!
We hope to see you along the way….
